With the help of a growing number talented and dedicated attorneys, Joel Chandler has won scores of civil rights lawsuits. Beginning with his first civil rights lawsuit against the Polk County School Board in 2008 for violations of Florida's Public Records Act, Chandler has maintained an impressive win/loss record.
As a full-time civil rights advocate, Chandler, who is not an attorney, regularly audits publicly operated agencies and government contractors for compliance with Article 1, Section 24 of the Florida Constitution and Chapter 119 of the Florida Statutes (Florida's Public Records Act).
Chandler is also involved with First Amendment issues such as photographer's rights, free speech and religious freedom.
In addition to civil rights advocacy, Chandler also works with whistleblowers to investigate the corruption of government contractors.
When I was in college, in Planning and Environmental Science, I would go and ask to see the Environmental Impact Statements for projects at the township and towns in Michigan my parents lived. A defensive Township manager grilled me for at least 15 minutes forcing me to explain that I was a student studying these type of reports. The best part came later when the Township manger spent five year in a federal prison for committing fraud related to how the monies directed to his buddies for projects that were never done. Great reading your posts and keep up the good work – because when they hide this information it cost everybody – and devalues and taints the good work that some government employees are doing.
