Mike Deeson Pulls A “Mike Wallace” on the “In God We Trust Foundation”

Mike Deeson’s story about the “In God We Trust Foundation” aired tonight. The story is an excellent example of why public records access is so important.

Without public records access we would not know that certain foundations that receive funds from the sale of some of Florida’s most popular specialty license tags are not using the money as required by law. That’s right, the “In God We Trust Foundation” isn’t the only group misusing funds collected on the backs of taxpayers.

With more than 130 specialty tags, it turns out the State of Florida makes no effort to monitor how funds are spent once these foundations receive them. That’s the real story here. No oversight.

Mike Deeson is first rate. He was very helpful to our local efforts to disclose the sham that is the northern extension of the Suncoast Parkway through Citrus County. His grasp of the numbers was obvious and his ability to communicate their meaning was deeply appreciated.
