Cases Dropped After Illegal DUI Checkpoint

Investigative TV reporter Mike Deeson (10Connects / WTSP) has reported that a “sobriety checkpoint” operated in Pasco County by multiple Law Enforcement agencies has resulted in a legal fiasco.  Deeson reports that the roadblock was operated in a fashion that was inconsistent with well-established law.

A reasonable person might expect LEOs to be exceedingly circumspect about compliance with legal precedence given the certainty of illegally obtained evidence being suppressed.  Then again, perhaps they believe that no one is checking their work.

It is remarkable that this would be a non-story were it not for the video evidence captured by a LEO’s dash-cam – obtained through a public records request.
