The Lakeland Ledger published an article on October 20, 2012 regarding my lawsuit against the School Board of Polk County for alleged violations of Florida’s Public Records Act. The Ledger has published previous articles regarding this case.
The current article revealed that the Ledger made a public records request very similar to the one I made which is the focus of the ongoing litigation. The results of the Ledger’s request were consistent with my own. At least it can be said that the School Board of Polk County is an equal opportunity violator of state law.
Rick Rousos, the reporter who wrote the article, also spoke with various officials at other Florida school districts regarding their public records policies. It was interesting to read their reactions to the conduct of Polk County’s School Board. That’s particularly true given that Wes Bridges, the General Counsel for the School Board of Polk County also serves as President of the Florida School Board Attorneys Association.
