According to an article published by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, State Trooper Scott Kunstmann has surrendered to the Sarasota County Sheriff’ after being fired from his job and charged with perjury.
The perjury charges stem from an incident in which Kunstmann arrested a motorist for DUI. According to the article, Sarasota attorney Andrea Mogensen, claims that Kunstmann’s sworn testimony was contradicted by public records, including the video linked above. In the interest of full-disclosure, Mogensen is representing me in an appeal before the 2nd DCA.
Once those alleged discrepancies came to light, the State Attorney dropped charges against one of Mogensen’s clients who was falsely charged by Kuntsmann. Once again, the value of public records access is evident.
Once again this shows the need for transparency government. Makes one wonder what else “Trooper” Kuntsmann has lied about! Thanks for keeping these articles in the public.
Joel, Great work you do man! Just want to say thanks. It seems like there is still some semblence of honesty, integrity and morals on the part of some government bureaucrats, elected and annointed officials until you get around the Central Florida and Tallahassee areas.
Among so many other things FDLE Agent Michael Giddens apparently under the supervision of his now retired SAS Sandra Wilson back in 2008 filed a false police report regarding some confidential informants who gave him hundreds of pages of evidence regarding massive housing fraud in Lake County. Giddens must have ate the evidence because he didn’t even mention it in his report of that date nor did he mention the names of the people that provided it to him. He did however make lying allegations and named two of the other confidential informants in a report received recently through a public records request. Someone filed a complaint on both Giddens and Wilson regarding the false police report which is a felony and Giddens bosses at the FDLE could not find anything wrong with his lies. (So this trooper is not on the protected species list) Can you imagine either of these gun toting badge wearers sitting in a witness box and raising their hands to swear to tell the truth and have some defense attorney wave this lying report in their faces? They would be laughed off the witness stand. that might be a good thing if they are lying to get some innocent person convicted, and obviously because of the blatant corruption within FDLE no one will ever do anything with them. We have heard they might be getting sued for the lying allegations they made about what two of the informants supposedly said. Rumors have been flying around Orlando FDLE for months now that FDLE Agent Danny Banks vandalized his on property and left a note on his own vehicle and publicly blamed someone he siad didn’t like his report on the I-75 FHP investigation earlier this year. The only thing most folks know for sure is they are a bunch of liars. No way in heck they could ever testify in court before a good lawyer who done their homework on these scoundrels. While I agree that this lying trooper needed to be taken down he is by far not the only one. The people must rise to the demand to return our justice system to demand the truth and nothing but the truth so help us God or no one will ever be safe from their lying thugs!
